St George Sword
According to legend, St. George was born to a Christian family during the late 3rd century in Cappadocia. At 17 he joined the Roman army and became renowned for his bravery. He served under a pagan Emperor who sent him on many important missions, one of which sent him to the den of a dragon. When he drew closer he witnessed a woman bound to a stake in the ground and as he worked to free her, he learned that she was to be sacrificed to appease the dragon. As soon as the maiden was freed, the dragon emerged from his cavern and charged. St. George struck with his lance which shattered on its hard scales. He was thrown from his horse, but rolled under the great beast and struck under the dragons scaleless wings with his St. George Sword, piercing its heart and it fell dead at his feet.
Our version of The St George Sword for sale has an overall length of 42 inches with a 33 inch hand polished stainless steel double edge blade. The cast gold metal handle is accented with dark orange colored hardwood and a cast metal guard and accompanied with a leather sheath.
