However, after the local priest taunts Balian by telling him his wife burns in hell for the actions that caused her death, he murders the holy man and flees to join Godfrey on his journey across continents to the Holy City. Along the way Balian is instructed in the skills of war and the honor code, and eventually dubbed a knight by his father, who is later fatally wounded. As his father passes his sword to his son along with the sacred oath to protect the helpless, safeguard the peace, and work toward harmony between religions and cultures, he in turn fights so that the kingdom of heaven can flourish on earth. The epic battles of Balian on his journey towards knighthood inspired this collection of official Kingdom Of Heaven Swords.
