I say this regularly, for the reason that this way of thinking is important to winning tiffs, and it is really neither broadly understood or widely acknowledged. If you possibly can keep on top of distances in a fight you are going to triumph the fight. It is like obtaining the high terrain for the period of a military fight; it's much more difficult for another person to take you down if they have to go up and also over to get to you. If you're able to choose where and when a struggle happens, you are going to have a serious advantage.

David was the type of student who was known for having a great deal of energy. At times, his high energy level made it difficult for him to focus on things that required him to sit still or to be calm. He was only in first grade but was already experiencing struggles at school. His teacher suggested that this was related to his having more energy than most children his age. David was lucky to have parents who tried to find ways for him to release his energy. They consulted with his teachers and with a child psychologist who performed an evaluation of David. Suggestions for controlling his hyperactivity were made by both teachers and the psychologist. Some of the suggestions involved reordering home life to include meaningful work for David, as well as age appropriate mental and physical tasks to keep him busy. His parents began utilizing a reward system where they kept track of all the ways David helped and followed directions throughout the week. One of the best suggestions they were given was to enroll David in a structured activity which would help him learn to control and release some of his energy. Mom and Dad took David to shop for karate uniforms as this was the activity they all three chose for him. Finding the right karate gi jacket and pants was easy and fun. Soon David enjoyed finding success in learning this martial art. If your son or daughter exhibits traits of those who have a high energy level the following activities are often recommended as good choices for energy release.

I had yet another conversation with my JKD (Jeet Kune Do) classical co-worker and we spoke of his past experiences sparring as part of his old school. He noted just how they used to do a "round robin" sparring session where one person would remain in and other folks would come in fresh every minute (this is certainly extremely popular in MMA or MMA training at this time by the way).

In his second fight in just over a month, Frank Trigg dominated tough veteran Falaniko Vitale wire to wire en route to a unanimous decision victory at Strikeforce: Payback. Trigg looked very sharp in easily handling Makoto Takimoto in Tokyo at Sengoku 4 on August 28th, and his victory here was every bit as impressive. Trigg essentially dictated where and when the fight occurred, and Vitale had no response whatsoever. Aside from a 2nd round takedown, Vitale mustered precious little offense and spent most of the fight trying to counter Triggs sharp striking and takedown attempts. The CompuStrike stats clearly underscored Triggs superiority in the fight, giving him a lopsided 41 to 7 edge in strikes landed.

Jenny had one final task to complete on her to do list for the day. She had to make sure to pick up the Tae Kwon Do uniforms she had ordered last week. Getting the right martial arts uniform was very important to her as she was looking forward to participating in her first competition over the weekend. She had ordered the new outfits for the competition hoping it would give her a boost of self confidence and make her feel like a true competitor. Jenny had always believed that what she wore was a big part of who she was and who others saw her to be. You could say that she subscribed to the old adage that it is the clothes that make the man, or woman as the case may be. Choosing the right outfit for a specific occasion need not be difficult. Sometimes, as in the case of the competition Jenny was participating in, the outfit requirements are predetermined. It simply, becomes a matter of fit and feel. For other situations, it is important to exercise discretion in regard to outfit selection. For example, a number of individuals have difficulty knowing how to dress for a job interview. Without getting into job specifics, what one is wearing when meeting someone new is often part of the first impression. Dressing for success is just an initial way to show that you are someone who is conscientious. Really, there are just a handful of key rules to follow when trying to dress for a successful interview.
