Bruce Lee Workouts and Developing Real Strength-Part Two

Sunday, January 22nd, 2012

When people do Bruce Lee workouts of some sort they have no idea just how brutal it can be. They go to the films, they read the martial arts books, but they don't know what Bruce Lee was really capable of. They don't have the real data as to physically strong he really was.

You see, it wasn't just that he was a martial arts fanatic, a physical cultist, but that he could actually do superhuman feats of strength. I've listed a few of the things he could do here, and you should consider them seriously when you do your Bruce Lee workouts routine. It's more than just push ups and sit ups, you see, it is going beyond the limits of the body.

First, the sheer speed coming out of Bruce Lee training routines is more than just faster than the eye could see, it is faster than the mind can believe! He could strike somebody in five one hundredths of second...that's 0.05 seconds. Try clicking your thumb that fast on your stopwatch!

Second, Bruce Lee could hold a 75 pound barbell straight from his body-arm horizontal to the ground-for several seconds. That is a massive feat. Go ahead, pick up a simply kitchen chair and hold it arm's length, and that is only a few pounds.

Here is your magician's trick-The Little Dragon could snatch a dime from your open palm and deposit a penny. Man, that is faster than a banker forecloses on a widow! It's hard enough to just grab a coin from somebody's palm, let alone leave some change!

Fourth, think you can do a pretty good push up? Try doing one with just the thumb and index finger! His fingers were stronger than your whole arm!

Or, and I love this one, Mr. Lee could do 50 one arm chin up repetitions! Let me repeat that...that's FIFTY one hand chin ups. How would you like to have a python as strong as his arms choking you out?

Sixth, and this is for all those pretty boys out there who do a few kicks and call it a workout, Bruce Lee could kick a 300 pound kicking bag and make it hit the ceiling! Now that is elephant busting power! Interestingly, Bruce had to have his 300 pound martial arts kicking bags made to order.

Finally, Bruce could do an elevated V-sit up position for half an hour. I would think that that would actually qualify him as a yoga master, in addition to being a martial arts master. Now that you know what to shoot for, go ahead and start your Bruce Lee workouts.

Improve Your Balance

Saturday, February 19th, 2011

There are reasons for everyone doing what they do. Every decision, even spur of the moment ones, are included in this. When it comes to mixed martial arts (MMA) then you will need to learn to be dedicated.

In MMA there is an untold amount of ways to do your technique. If you want to know about some of the styles that you can have look at wrestling, jiu jitsu and mauy thai. Take a look at the 48 year old Herschel Walker and realize that age doesn't matter in MMA.

MMA has many benefits of learning it that you might not know about. Some of the different ways for you to benefit is that you are improving your endurance, conditioning, and might possibly lose some weight. You have to first start at step one and then build upon that. After you learn how to do quite a few different techniques your next step will be to learn when to use them.

Besides what happens to your body there are other reasons for people to want to learn the martial arts such as for defensive. In stead of learning moves only from a self-defense class you are going to learn how to properly apply the moves if you ever need them. Part of the fun of MMA is that you will be able to both defend yourself and then go on the offensive. The goal of your practices is to get your body to do this instinctually instead of having to think about it.

Some decide to get into mixed martial arts to stay fit. This is because even one class a week is more than enough to get your heart rate pumping and keep your muscles in check. The top caliber athletes in this sport have practiced this for years so you better train hard if you want to be in the same level as them.

There is nothing to stop you from learning more than one martial art. In fact, the more you know the better because each technique has strengths and weaknesses. If you know what these are, you can exploit it and use this to your advantage.

When it comes to a fight, boxers will only know how to attack with their hands. They will not be able to hit you if you constantly stay on the outside of their reach. They won't be able to stop leg kicks against them which is why it would be useful to learn a martial art that has leg kicks in it.

Taking someone down is often the only way to stop them from being able to kick and punch you. It is hard to attack when you are on your back so it might be wise to learn how to wrestle or how to do jiu jitsu. Attacking them when you are on the ground without having to worry about them hurting you is a big advantage of learning how to grapple.

Self-defense, exercise and for competitive purposes are the three main reasons that make a lot of decide to learn mixed martial arts. Of course, there are other sports that allow you to do the same thing but if you are interested from what you see on television, there is no harm in giving it a try. There is no harm in trying it see if you like.

Growing Popularity of Mixed Martial Arts

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

Mixed martial art is becoming increasingly popular, greatly due to the implementation of safety rules for those who are competing in the ring which made it possible to be watched on television. Unlike wrestling, mixed martial arts or MMA is not scripted which captivates the audience both young and old.

The unique characteristic of mixed martial arts that captivates the audience is that unlike wrestling, this sport is not scripted. Mixed martial arts comprises of two main types, the sport and the street style. The sport style involves two unarmed opponents who fight against each other using same or different techniques of martial arts. In sports style, fighters are prohibited to assault the groin, bite, gouge the eye or insert fingers into any bodily crevices.

The increase in the mixed martial arts popularity is evident in the number of organizations that have been established since the Ultimate Fighting Championships that was formed in 1993. Some of them include the International Fighting Championships, Elite XC and the PRIDE.

UFC fights are aired in Spike TV which is available as pay per view. The Elite XC is aired in CBS as the "Saturday Night Fights."

In addition to their fame in television, other forms of mixed martial arts merchandise like videos which can be watched at home are increasing in sales. There are many blogs and forums that discuss everything about this sport and many websites give information about upcoming competitions.

Many people are interested to join gyms that offer classes on mixed martial arts to learn this combat sport. Mixed martial art is an excellent way of exercising to keep fit. Those who are more serious train harder to enter various competitions in hopes of fame and fortune.

If you think that the craze about this sport started only 15 years ago then you might be wrong. It has been known for more than 2000 years by a different name. It was first introduced as Pankration by the Greeks in their Olympic Games.

The steep growth of mixed martial arts as a combat sport is obvious with its increasing fans and the increase in its sales revenue which is more than wrestling or boxing. Another proof for its increasing popularity is the increase in the number of academics, organizations and gyms that are formed internationally and locally

This sport was also recommended to be featured in 2004 Olympics that was held in Greece but was not added due to concerns about whether this venue will be capable of hosting other new type of sports.

Despite the fact that mixed martial art was not included in the Beijing Olympics too, many fighters are still keen to participate in competitions hosted by other organizations to achieve fame and fortune. Though the International Olympic Committee has not yet approved mixed martial art, many competitions are broadcast on television by different organizations and watched by millions of fans.

Even though Senator McCain proclaimed mixed martial arts as "human cockfighting" and said that it was too violent, this sport is yet to see any fatalities unlike boxing. With its growing popularity there can be no doubt that mixed martial arts is here to stay as part of the American society
